How Entropy Explains the Emergence of Consciousness: The Entropic Theory

This paper solves the Body-Mind problem in a startling way: it proves it to be unsolvable! It also has startling implications for Artificial Intelligence, and our place in the world. It was selected as a poster presentation for The Science of Consciousness conference, Taormina, May 2023 and in Tucson, April 2024. It was presented as a concurrent talk at the Barcelona conference in July, 2025. It was published in the Journal of Neurobehavioral Sciences 11(1): 10-18, Jan-Mar 2024.

An Evaluation of Kant’s Transcendental Idealism Using the Inversion Theory of Truth

The Inversion Theory of Truth is a novel Truth Theory needed to replace the “Correspondence Theory” in order to properly understand knowledge, and the types of falsehood. Kant scholar Robert Hanna has called it a “neo-Popperian” truth theory, and I’ll take that as a compliment. Here, it is used to uncover flaws in Kant’s opus that were not obvious in the light of the Correspondence Theory. It was published in the Journal of Philosophical Investigations, 17(45): 159-174, Jan 2024.

A Consideration of Hegel’s Philosophy According to Popper and to the Neo-Popperian Inversion Theory of Truth

Sir Karl Popper’s devastating critique of Hegel’s philosophical method and its promotion of a fascist Historicist narrative relied on Popper’s acceptance of the Correspondence Theory of Truth. In this paper, I demonstrate that the Inversion Theory of Truth is even more devastating to Hegel’s method, and invalidates the very concept of the Dialectic itself. It was published in the Journal of Philosophical Investigations; 20(54): 587-604. 2026

Of Clouds, Clocks and Free Will

In this paper, I will demonstrate that Free Will is a genuine, real property of the human condition. I will use as context an essay by Sir Karl Popper, “Of Clouds and Clocks”, which he presented at the Arthur Holly Compton Memorial Lecture at Washington University, St. Louis, on April 21, 1965. An adaptation of this paper has been published as “The Modular with Feedback Theory of Free Will” in the Journal of NeuroPhilosophy, 3(2): 250-262, 2024.

Inner speech, self-regulation and the Modular-with-Feedback-Theory of free will

Coauthored with Alain Morin of Mount Royal University in Alberta, Canada, this paper demonstrates a synergy between the inner speech model of free will and the Modular-with-Feedback-Theory.

Reality or Simulation – Which Are We and How Can We Be Sure?

This article is a critique of “Reality +”, by David Chalmers (Norton, 2022), refuting the ideas that consciousness can be programmed into computers, and that it would be desirable to do so.

Culture Wars: Why the Righteous Should Pick Up Their Marbles, Declare Victory, and Go Home

“Precognition and the ‘Quantum Handshake’” Threatens Causality. Here I Come to Save the World!

A physics professor claims that the Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics explains experiments demonstrating precognition. If true, it would violate the principle that there are causal reasons and responsibilities for actions. This paper challenges that claim.

Essence, Truth, and the Inversion Theory

This paper demonstrates that Karl Popper’s use of the Correspondence Theory of Truth contradicts his own opposition to essentialism and justificationalism. This problem is completely resolved by adoption of the Inversion Theory of Truth.  This paper was presented at the Ninth International Zoom Conference on the Philosophy of Sir Karl Popper, March 2025.

Self-referential paradoxes and the logic of truth and falsehood

An exploration of paradoxical self-reference and the concept of essential falsehood to invalidate two key theorems of Alfred Tarski, both of which influenced Karl Popper to accept as logical the flawed Correspondence Theory of Truth. The Inversion Theory of Truth is shown to be the more logical truth theory instead. This paper was presented at the 11th International Zoom Conference on the Philosophy of Sir Karl Popper, March 2026.
